Wedding in Santa Barbara and Catalina Island | Deidra & Charles

Against the lush green backdrops and antique buildings, a love of 8 years eclipsed as Deidra and Charles uttered their “I do’s” in the Santa Barbara courthouse.

“Since the end of the year was coming up fast, we decided to do a non-traditional wedding. We chose to get married at the beautiful Santa Barbara courthouse, with a few family members as witnesses”, Charles said. The courthouse appealed to them more visually than most venues they saw, hence their choice.

A Spanish Colonial Revival style building, the Santa Barbara courthouse has sprawling greens across a large area, with tall buildings and beautifully designed interiors. Paired with a stunning circular stairwell and a geometric star center, the interiors made for a perfect scenic background for the couple. From a photographer’s perspective, the couple against this architectural dream looked nothing short of star-crossed lovers!

Deidra looked stunning in her gorgeous white satin gown, which of course bears tons of credit to her working in fashion and having a fantastic eye for detail. Charles paired beautifully with Deidra in his chic black tux. It seems like oomph and class were what they were aiming for, which was showcased well!

With a beautiful venue and scenic details, rain couldn’t spoil it as the pictures turned out amazing. The grey from the skies gave a certain moody feel and the rain saturated all of the colors - something that I absolutely love as a photographer.

For the reception, we headed over to Catalina Island, which was a 1-hour boat ride from Long Beach. “The venue Descanso Beach Club was absolutely amazing and our planner Lindsy Swarts of Coastal Coordinates made sure all of our dreams came true”, said a starry-eyed Charles.

Deidra’s aesthetic vision got a direction from Coastal Coordinates: A romantic vibe draped the scene with sparkly champagne glasses and golden tableware. The flowers were arranged beautifully in line with the blush pink and gold theme of the reception. Hints of pink across the reception table made the entire scene so dreamy, just like a fairytale! Lastly, I loved the elegant touch of the champagne display with hand-lettered escort cards.

The reception was a treat - visually and otherwise with a spread of so many cuisines and drinks centered by a two-tier cake. All in all, the Wilsons were truly a delight to work with!
